Our first “competitive” appearance of the summer saw a very young Spurs squad ultimately defeated by a young Juventus squad. However, the score is not what Spurs supporters will dissect. We got good looks at the future featuring Marcus Edwards, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Shay Harrison, Josh Onomah, Harry Winks and others. We also saw a beautiful Victor Wanyama steal and lob for an Erik Lamela goal midway through the second half.

Erik Lamela found his calling at Tottenham last season. Sixteen goals in all competitions and 28 Premier League starts. If the second half of the Juventus friendly was any indication of his readiness for the upcoming campaign, our #11 is out to show he’s ready to be a staple in  Pochettino’s starting XI once again.

It’s widely known that the first part of Lamela’s Spurs career was a rough one. But the talented midfielder knew what he could do and knew where he could take the squad and himself. He recently spoke about those thoughts, “Always my mind was in Tottenham and I knew that my moment would arrive. I was confident in myself, always.”

“I think the team has helped me a lot, I have helped the team also. We helped each other last season and all together we pushed in the same way. All we want to do is bring Tottenham up a level and we are trying to do that.”

We’re all on board, Coco. Run it back.
